Accept responsibility + respond with dignity + respect.
Anthropology—Delve into historical cultures surrounding and involved in Veteran's Day and the physical + human features, language, music, art, dance and historical context that make up surrounding culture(s). The relationship between Veteran's Day + colonization, missions, ranchos and the Mexican War for Independence.
Mathematics—numbers + operations, beginning fractions in relation to partitioning land vs. the whole.
Science—Explore the physics of canons and alternate applications. Tie back to production/consumption in terms of war economies.
Reading—Explore POV, compare/contrast and structure + support thoughts + ideas through various kinds of battles including the Mexican War for Independence.
Communicating—Write letters to soldiers alongside the writing project of choice.
Every unit provides plenty of opportunities to share learning with each other individually, in small groups and large groups.

Science—Explore the physics of food and how food physics translates into various economies.
Reading—Explore POV, compare/contrast and structure + support thoughts + ideas through the Pilgrims & Indians and thought pieces on how they might lead and help in similar scenarios, then and today.
Communicating—Write letters or tell a story to children of the future, celebrating with them the things that we are grateful for today and how much more we hope they have and how we hope our wildest dreams sound quaint.
